The Girls’ Friendly Society (GFS) Melanesia, a program under the Provincial Mothers Union (PMU) of the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM), admitted a total of 36 new members during a service held at St Barnabas Cathedral on 3 October 2026.
Of the 36 members admitted, 31 were new GFS members, while five were admitted as Townsend members, representing the adult membership of the society. The admissions took place within the Diocese of Central Melanesia.
Following the GFS service, a new committee was elected to lead and coordinate the society’s activities. The newly elected committee comprises Luisa Ropotaro as GFS Coordinator, Susan Kabau as Vice Coordinator, Shuyee Eli Yan as Secretary, and Karen Kwaomae as Treasurer.
Other committee members are Elsie Nagive and Harriet Salina Tauriki.
