Celebrating Four Years In Partnership

THE Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) and the Iglesia Filipina Independiente Church in the Philippines has celebrated their 4th Concordat Anniversary from 20th to 21st March 2015 at St. Joseph Parish, Paglaum, Palawan.
The Theme for the event is: Spirit of God, Strengthen the bond of our unity, and sustain us in our journey (1 Corinthians 12:12).
At this event, the Anglican Church of Melanesia and the Iglesia Filipina Independiente Church revisited their agreements and find new ways to continue supporting each other in the future.
“It was also highlighted in that celebration the importance for the two churches to strengthen their relationship and move on to new hights,” The Head Brother of the Melanesian Brotherhood, Br. MatthaiasTovotasi who attended the celebration on behalf of the Anglican Church of Melanesia said
“Iglesia Filipina Independiente Church is doing great in supporting the Melanesian Brotherhood in the area in the past 18th years,” he said.
He said that the Novices and the Brothers in that area will soon get support in terms of Theological study be inserted in their (Novice and Brothers) programs with qualified Theologians to go and teach at the MBH headquarter in Palawan.
In response, the MBH has sent Brothers there to help the Filipina Brothers (Tasiu) to live the meaningful life and mission of the Melanesian Brotherhood.
The relationship between the two churches was documented on the 27th of March 2011 when the successful signing of the Memorandum of Understanding MOU between the two heads of the Anglican Church of Melanesia and the Iglesia Filipina Independiente at the National Cathedral of IFI, Manila, Philippines.
