To the Governor General of Solomon Islands, Reverend Sir David Tiva Kapu and lady Kapu, Honourable Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele, Government Ministers and all Members of Parliament; Provincial Premiers, Diplomatic Cops, Business houses, Traditional Leaders, Church Leaders, and all the People of Solomon Islands:
On behalf of the Council of Bishops, Clergy, Lay ministries, and all members of the Anglican Church of Melanesia, I extend to you warm and prayerful greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as we join the nation in celebrating the 47th Anniversary of Solomon Islands’ Independence.
This day is not only a historical milestone—it is a sacred reminder of God’s enduring faithfulness to our beloved nation. Since gaining independence on July 7th, 1978, Solomon Islands has travelled a journey marked by challenges and triumphs, growth and resilience. Through it all, our faith in the grace of God has remained our sure foundation of our unity and peace.
As we celebrate, I encourage all people of faith and goodwill to renew our commitment to the values of love, justice, honesty, compassion, and service. Let us remember that true independence is not only political freedom but also freedom of the heart and mind to do what is right, to love and care for one another, and to build a resilient future rooted in truth and love.
To our national leaders: we uphold you in prayer as you carry the responsibility of governance. May God grant you wisdom, justice, integrity, and courage to lead this nation with a servant heart.
To our families and communities: let us work together to create a society where no one is left behind, where unity abounds, where peace prevails, and where our cultural and Christian values guide our daily lives.
To our young people: you are the hope of this nation. Stand firm in faith, seek knowledge, uphold your identity and dignity, and be brave in shaping a future that honours God and your people.
Let this Independence Day be a time of thanksgiving, reflection, and renewal for all Solomon Islanders. Let us walk forward together as “one people, one nation, under the guiding hand of God.”
Happy 47th Independence Anniversary Solomon Islands!
May God bless our beloved nation forever. To God be the glory, great things he has done and will continue to do.
