CSC opens new Conference hall

As part of their preparations towards the coming General Chapter, The Community of the Sisters of the Church (CSC) on Thursday the 21st of August 2014 officially blessed and dedicated their newly built conference hall at Tetete Ni Kolivuti (TNK), east of Honiara.

THE Lord Howe Community in Honiara has a new permanent Chapel.

The Chapel was named Transfiguration Chapel and was officially blessed and dedicated by the VICAR General of the Diocese of Central Melanesia DOCM Bishop Jonnie Kuper on the 10th of August 2014.

Prison Inmates assisted with Bibles.

The Inmates at Tetere and Rove Correctional Services early August 2014 received gifts of Bibles from overseas friends.

This was revealed by the Chaplain to Hospital and Prison Fr. Ellison Koke.

The society today is highly influenced by secularism and materialism and that has pushed the Christian faith to the periphery or to say the least, has killed the faith” Archbishop of Melanesia, The Most Revd David Vunagi stated in his key note address to the 19th Diocesan Synod of Malaita held at Buma village.

“Violence against women and girls is one that demands attention of all the dioceses in the Province of Melanesia at this time”. The Most Reved David Vunagi said in his key note address to the 19th Synod of Malaita.

DOM 19th Diocesan Synod

MORE than two thousand (2000) people gathered at Buma Village on Saturday 19th July 2014 to witness the colorful welcome ceremony staged by the host region, Buma Parish of Central Region - Diocese of Malaita.

'Apprach we should have for mission work today is wholistic'.

Bishop of the Diocese of Central Solomon (DOCS) made the statement in his official remarks at the opening of the 7th synod.

The theme for the synod is ‘God and Steward are participants in the Divine Mission to save souls’.

“Some homes are no longer safe for women, young girls and Children”.

This is a sad state of affairs reflected in the statement echoed by the Coordinator of the Christian Care Centre (CCC) Sr. Doreen in an interview with ACoM Communications.

DOY 14th Diocesan Synod

The Diocese of Ysabel (DOY) has successfully completed their 14th Diocesan synod held at the head quarters Jejevo.

The synod runs from 16th to 21st August 2014.

Bishop Sam Sahu delivered the Keynote address to this big day and Bishop Ben Seka was the preacher. Bishop Sahu and Bishop Seka attended and took part in the official opening of this synod becasue the Diocese of Ysabel, Malaita and Central Solomons are partner dioceses.

Bishop of the Diocese, Bishop Richard Naramana also presented his charge as a Bishop of the diocese.

Following on from the partnership signed between Norman Palmer School of the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACoM) and the three Anglican owned schools in England on the 6th of August 2013; three Primary School teachers from the UK are currently in Honiara to support ACOM Primary school teachers.
