A New Church building of a modern design was consecrated by the Diocesan Bishop of Malaita , The Rt Rev. Sam Sahu at Faurau village in Gwalalamoa parish, Northern Region on the 15th of January, 2015.
The General Synod, the highest governing body of the Church, met in Honiara from 8 to the 14 of November 2014. It was the first time that the meeting, which is normally held after every three years, was held within a week instead of the normal two weeks. The General Synod gathers to deliberate on matters concerning the whole Church, as a province, as opposed to issues pertaining to each particular diocese which are normally dealt with by the respective diocesan synods.
THE Diocese of Malaita 19th Diocesan Synod at Buma village, central region in July 2014 had approved an establishment of a savings and credit scheme known as the ‘Diocese of Malaita Community Fund’ or DOM Community Fund’ as financial backbone of the Diocese. This fund is now in operation.
